Goodbyes...

Someone recently asked me if saying goodbye ever gets any easier. We can contemplate the inevitable, be it that we are with them when they check in at an airport, or when the print their train ticket at a station, but can we ever adjust to the emotions attached to a farewell?...

We can envision how perfect our goodbyes can be, with paradoxical amount of pleasure and pain, but when it comes down to it: goodbyes are always the same. They signify the end of something, be it for a day, a week, a month, a year...

So I guess the answer is simple, goodbyes never get any easier. But in their purest form they tell us something about ourselves, and i would rather live my days filled with emotions of happiness, sorrow, apprehension, excitment etc, then to switch off feelings that remind me: I am merely human!

Life is not supposed to be endlessly easy. "What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lighly"- Thomas Paine.
